just a few weeks to go now befor it all kicks off again the latest pre seaons was a good one for the stars wining 49/41 at home agenst Puckeridge and only just loseing 46/44 away to Greenmeadow. the stars was very happy but also pointing out that the team are still trying things out as we go into the last 2 pre season the stars are looking forward to going to brum and baldwin is looking to go back and say thank you for last season that he spent on loan there.

>>

The news was finally confirmed this week that Laurence Baldwin has signed with the stag hill stars.

It was no secret that he has had one eye on Laurence Baldwin as he had made a few inquires to Stannington manager matt throughout the season. But with a high price tag he was never really in a position to act on his wish list. But at the end of the season saw a cash injection to the stars and the manager set about going after his man. His first offer of 350k was quickly turned down with stannington manager clearly indicating it would cast top cash to price the young brit away.

The two managers’s finally settled on 400k but this was after a few penny pinching tricks from the stannington manager. Mr fisher said “ we was all sorted after a lot of negotiating from my half with matt and Andy as well from Birmingham as he was ment to be going on loan again something that Laurence was not happy about, then matt decided to play his normal game of messing about saying he had had a new bid which just happened to be 10k more and if i was to match it he was mine. Unfortunately for him i was born yesterday ( more like a week ago Wednesday) and i wasn’t having it, after some heated chats we finally met in Cardiff to shake on the 400k deal and it was all done in good spirits and we shared a drink”. The stanning manager had this to say

”stannington have taken the decision to sell Laurence, we had received a offer that at first didnt match our estimate but when it was uped we took the decision to sell, baldwin who has only ever had a ave in div 2 n 3 had not proven his level at div 1 so with big money on

the table we let him go we had a lot of offers for baldwin

but all rejected due to the fact that he was part of a

agreement with brum in the dudek deal when stag got

told this they wouldnt take no for an answer and came

up with a way of getting brum out to take the option on

him, when that fell thro i re phoned all who had made

inquiries asking if they wanted to match the bid of stag

this wasn’t to stags liking and in a hissy fit started a

paddy that would last a few days, 1 offer was matched

before being presented to stag in which he called me a

liar and accused me of going back on a deal, my reply

was to match it, he did and baldwin sigend”

Laurence said “ I’m delighted to be working with a

young manager and very much looking forward to

learning from the new world number one peter, we

had a chat and he was keen to make us an

unbeatable duo.”

>> sweet and sour

The end of the season was both sweet and sour as the stars missed out on automatic promotion but still went into the top division and had to say goodbye to a long serving legend.

The stars havening been in the top 3 for nearly all of the season fell into the 4th position in the final week of the season, although this means they didn’t go up to the top flight automatically but however due to restructuring in the league they managed to pinch a place. The stars manager and other manager have said that it’s fair justice. Also in the final week top man and long server for the stars Adam furtok call it a day with the stars as it was conformed they went up, he makes a move to Birmingham and had this to say “ iv loved my time at the stars and i feel i have helped them get where they are today, although i would love to ride where i have taken them i feel i will not be able to give my best in such a high and competitive league now I’m getting on!. I fell maybe one last season in the new division 2 maybe my last. Manager Andrew fisher said “Adam has been amazing and it a hard decision to excepted but he feels he is making the right move and i will never stand in the way of what he wants”.

> > Martensson’s the man!

Stag hill manager was frilled yet again after his main man peter did it again in the g.p’s with another top 3 finish in the g.p’s sitting second overall.

The manager joined peter in Prague to try and assist in any way possible again, and the pair was delighted when peters hard work showed again with grabbing 3rd peter said “ I’m beginning to like the taste of champion I hope this isn’t the last this season, things are going so well for me and the club, I came here when the gaffer said that I would be number one and the club and it would sharpen me up and could get me in the g.p’s and ever since then I have felt brilliant.

But at the same time the stars slipped up a bit at home this week with a draw agents title rivals stannington. The gaffer said I think it’s over now for the title but of Corse we will be fighting to the end for second I started at this club with a 5 year plan, in 5 season I said I will take this club into the best possible division. And I would love to be able to deliver one season early but there is still a lot of work to be done, and are heads are in the right place to get it done

> > the rumour mill has been running this week as word around the pits is that the stag hill manager has his eyes on a top young 9 point rider for next seasons campaign. it’s not sure who will be replaced to fit this "target" into the team but with gordon only on loan and team changes sure to happen it might just mean a different look to the team. But with no one sure of the limit that will be set for next season it makes early planning tricky.

>the stars keep their push on promotion going, with another win home and away the stars are now unbeaten in six home and away. the stars now find them self just one behind the leaders Stannington, manager Andrew fisher said i delighted that the team have come together so well, when i thought i spotted a weakness i tried to make changes and i fell the riders i have at the moment are more then capable of doing the job and getting us up to division 1. the team has changed with the league, there have been alot of big moves from other clubs and i have managed to put a team together that i can see us taken us into division one, that is my dream, that is the teams dream.

> hello and let me tell you a lot has happened from the last time we gave you an update, not only have the league form still been going strong but the starts have made it to the next round ( semi finals ) of the div cup. But manager Andrew fisher felt that the team needed to be strengthened with the very important bonus point fixtures coming up. with some riders finding them self’s in the main body of the team due to strong early season performances the gaffer felt it might be a big step for them and some may struggle. so the decision was made to bring in two highly experienced riders from the division below the boss was looking for a riders that have raced in all the divisions and he found that with first hot signing Andy Evans from Dagenham Andy have had spells in division one but more importantly enjoyed a good run of form in div 2 be for his club folded and he found himself having to take up life in div 3 Andy said " this excellent for me I’m glad to be back in div 2 and I come to the stars as they are riding high and i hope to fight y way into the team and make a difference. The other signing was Jim Bignal from Birmingham Jim has hit some good form of late and manager Andrew fisher thought that he could play a part in the team in the future.

Also the stars were very happy with their away result agenst local rivals Winchester wasps only loosing by two. the gaffer said " after a few heats we looked like we was going to get embarrassed but we came back amazingly and came so close to grabbing some points, but we are look very very strong for the bonus point".

> This week sees the stag hill stars take a short trip down the a34 to big rivals Winchester wasps. the team coming off back to back wins last time out in the league are riding high in confidence and hope to take the a strong challenge to the wasps. Manager Andrew fisher said " we are riding really well at the moment we don’t expect to go to the wasps and win as their home form is very strong but we would love to go down there and keep it as close as e can so we have the chance of getting the bonus point off them like we have for the last two seasons".

it has been reported the stars fans have already booked out 4 coaches and many more to follow down by car. also this week the stars have a hard meeting at home to inform Bradford who are currently level on points but only behind on for agenst difference. Peter martensson said " it will be hard for us but we have very very good form at home and i think we can keep it going". last week peter picked up a big 10k for his team in an individual he showed some amazing riding and form like he has done every week so far this season manager Mr fisher said " he is top of his game at the moment this was a bit help for the club and we made sure we rewarded ere well! i hope he can grab a few more this season and i also hope he will make it into the g.p's as it will be amazing watching him race there.

> under21

>NO falling stars

the stag hill stars carried on their good start to the league with a massive home and away win. the team was very please with some excellent performances from every rider, this sees the team climb to second in the league but they was knocked out of the pairs by one point. bjur yet again had engine problems meaning he only picked up a pore 4 points. yet again peter had a amazing week in pairs and league he is all set for the g.p qualifiers when they come up.

pairs news

>the stars duo romped to a 25 point hall at their home ground the rec to advance to the next round. although they was on home ground that pair looked very sharp with peter scoring 16 points and ulrick picking up the remaining 9. ulriks engine problem hit again in his 3rd heat meaning he had to retie so moving onto his spare bike in his next outing he found his set up wasn’t right and only picked up a point after that he and the team got the bike firing and he followed his team mate home. the boys after the meeting said they felt strong together with some very promising team riding and are looking forward to the next round to try make it through to the next round with the stars have never done before in there history. Manager Andrew Fisher said " they boys did us well under a home crowd and they looked strong if they ride like that in the next round there is no reason why they can’t get in the next round

first turn round up

> the stag hill stars got there campaign of to a wining start with a solid win at home to promotion favourites Swindon wildcats.

The stars won the match 50-40 with the top scorer being ulrik bjur (11) but the surprise of the night was one of the top rate reserves Stephen mathers scoring a massive 10 points from reserve. away form home the stars managed to keep it tigh only going down 48-42.in this meeting the first maximum came from peter matenson with a spotless 15 points peter said " yeah I’m delighted my bike was going well i had a good engine and the team and i found a good set up i hope this is the first of many, my away form is very important to me as i thin last season we didn’t keep tight enough and i think that will change this season".

the manager was happy with the teams two performances saying " I’m very happy this is a strong start for us and i wouldn’t like to see us drop out the top 5 from now to the end of the season, we had a strong team performance and with peter going strength to strength it’s a great thing for the team". when asked if he would take the number one spot off ulrik manager Andrew fisher said " it’s good peter is pushing ulrik and they are very good friends so its all good, peter is having some problems with engines at the moment even though he has scored 22 points from two meetings so when that’s sorted it will be tight for top scorer.

next up for the stars gospot and hull
